Throw away trends are so easy to indulge in, I'm as guilty as the next person when it comes to over indulging in a trend one season and then shoving it to the back of the wardrobe, probably never to see the light of day again. One of my NY resolutions was to invest in to more staple pieces and things that cost a little more but in the long run would be used a lot more...
...and so in comes, the trench.
SHOP THE LOOK
There's a never a season that passes without the trench being reinvented on the runway, lighter fabrics in the spring with a more duster feel and then heavy, indulgent designs in the winter. The trench is classic and versatile, it's a piece I've now deemed a staple in my wardrobe. This year we saw Marc Jacobs don the trench design with metallic fabrics and John Rocha styling it the off the shoulder, which I love as I'm so guilty of embracing the freezing temperatures in order to showcase what I'm wearing, which inevitably ends up with me having a cold 99% of the time, but hey I know I'm not the only one who choose fashion over practically!
The styling of the trench is endless, skirts & knee high boots, flared trousers and knitwear, or wrap one over a classic cut dress for that business savvy city vibe, this is the piece that'll have your back every day. I've pulled some of my faves from Pinterest to give ya'll some inspo, if you're ever lacking is inspiration in how to style a piece, get yourself on to Pinterest and you'll be inspired within minutes.
1. - perfect causal spring styling
2. - getting fancy with it
3. - sleek and chic over a slip
4. - city sunday stroll vibes
5. - match with monochrome for a blocked out palette
6. - the frosty morning layering look
